Are you someone who attends church every weekend? If so, we’re pretty sure that you want to do all that you can to look your absolute best while also making sure that you appear modest and appropriate. And sometimes, especially when you enjoy fashionable trends, that can pose a bit of a challenge.
The good news is that there are things that you can do that will insure that you look beautiful while still feeling that you are “church ready”. If you’d like a few church fashion etiquette tips in time for next weekend, we have five of them for you below:
Make sure that you dress for the environment. The most important thing to remember about what you are wearing, no matter where you go, is that you need to dress for the environment. When it comes to church, being that it’s a place of worship, try and keep words like “simple”, “elegant” and “refined” in mind. That alone should help to keep you in the right mindset as you’re choosing what to wear.
Avoid things that are too low up top, too high at the bottom. While you definitely should wear something that you feel beautiful in, at the same time, you should try and avoid what will prove to be a distraction to others. That’s why it’s not a good idea to wear anything that is too low when it comes to your tops or too high when it comes to your skirts. With that said, try and avoid low V-necks or mini-skirts at church. They are articles of clothing that you can wear elsewhere.
Wear the right undergarments. All of us have seen a woman who has a nice dress on, but it’s hard to really admire it because you can see her bra straps or panty lines. So yes, something that you should definitely make a priority is to wear the right kinds of undergarments. They need to provide you with plenty of support without being visible.
Try things on to make sure you have a good fit. Say that you’re walking around the mall looking for some church suits and you happen to notice a couple of them that catch your eye. Then you look at the tag and notice that they are your size, so you decide to purchase them. Before you do though, please stop by the fitting room. Sometimes the size that an outfit claims to be will not complement your body in the way that you thought it would due to the cut or fabric. And being that in church you will be standing and sitting off and on, you want to wear clothes that will prove to be a good and comfortable fit.
Be classic more than trendy. Sometimes, when people think of words like “modesty”, they assume that means they have to look boring and dated but that’s certainly not the case. The thing to keep in mind is that you need to look more classic than trendy. By this we mean, look for outfits that will last you more than one season; ones that you can wear for at least a couple of years. And when it comes to trends, try applying them to one or two pieces of your wardrobe and/or fashion accessories instead. By applying these tips, you can be confident that you’ll look totally amazing, the next time you go to church.
